Charitable IRA Rollover: If you are over 70 ½, you may be able to make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 annually directly from your IRA. To qualify for the charitable IRA rollover, a gift must be: (1) made by a donor age 70 ½ or older, (2) transferred from the taxpayer’s traditional or Roth IRA directly to a permissible public charity, such as SafeSpot, and (3) completed during the applicable tax year. If your gift qualifies, the contribution will be excluded from your taxable income and also count toward your required minimum distribution for the applicable tax year. A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a centralized charitable account. It allows charitably-inclined individuals, families and businesses to make tax-deductible charitable donations of cash, publicly-traded stock and in some case, certain illiquid assets, to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program.
